Aviva has partnered with Acturis, the leading technology provider to the general insurance industry, to launch an application programming interface (API) designed to streamline the claims process for brokers, from claim notification to closure / completion.
Aviva is the first insurer to create a claims API for integration with Acturis, which will provide a seamless, one-way transfer of individual claim records and updates from Aviva’s claims system directly into a broker’s Acturis system. This will minimise the need for on-demand claims updates and brokers having to manually key in claims data into the Acturis system.
The Broker API can facilitate data transfer for all personal and commercial lines motor, property, and liability claims.
How it works
When a claim is set up on Aviva’s system, either by a broker or by a client, it will be transferred to Acturis, who will match the data to an existing claim or policy. A record will then be added so that the broker has access to the new claim and any subsequent updates.
Benefits to brokers
This development is expected to simplify the claims process for brokers. Key benefits include:
- Simplified processes: brokers will have fewer manual steps to set up new claims and update existing claims records.
- Staying up to date: brokers will receive automatic updates on existing claims records on their Acturis system.
- Enhanced visibility: brokers will be able to see claims updates directly in their Acturis system, including those directly reported by customers or notified online via Notify Claim.
- Free to use: there are no fees for Acturis brokers to set up or use the enhanced functionality.
Pilot
Aviva is coming to the end of a successful pilot of the Broker API and will be rolling this out to brokers from Q1 2025. Brokers can register their interest through their Aviva Claims Service Manager or through their Acturis Account Manager.
We’re thrilled to introduce this innovative Broker API in collaboration with Acturis. This underscores our commitment to improving efficiency and responsiveness through streamlining the claims process for brokers.
Ryan Birbeck, Commercial Claims Director, Aviva
Ryan Birbeck added “Enhancing our claims services for our broker partners is central to our plans, their feedback is crucial so that we continuously improve our propositions. The Broker API is an exciting development and it is great to see so many brokers keen to access its capabilities in 2025.”
At Acturis, we are committed to help drive digital transformation for our customers. We are delighted to have partnered with Aviva to create our new claims download functionality which enables our brokers to deliver faster and more efficient solutions.
We see this as a huge step forward within the market, and expect to see a movement toward an automated, electronic approach to claim notifications in the future.
